As absolute beginner on roller skis I didn't know what to expect. With guidance from Alexey I went with the Jenex V2 XL150SC. I got the model mounted with speed reducers, brake and one set of outriggers. First time out I probably made Bambi look graceful! My balance was awful but I managed to run on a flat road without falling. I started out running 2Km a day at a slow pace and spend most of my energy on balance. Now two weeks later things are going a lot better with balance and weight shifts. I can feel the 'glide' and I am a lot more relaxed. Now I run 5 Km a day and even though I run with a low pulse the pace is coming up. On the downhill the speed reducers can keep the speed in check and they sure eat speed. On a 3% downhill grade I have to actively work with the reducers set at one. It took a few times to get the brake dialed in but after that was done it worked. It sure beats going off the road and it makes it possible to slow down in an orderly fashion. Are there better roller skis for a beginner? I wouldn't know but the fact that I got started on these (not having skied for 30 years) tells me that they can't be all bad. In short roller skis is one of the best workouts I have ever had and I will continue to endeavour into the world of Cross Country skiing!
