 Telemark braking position.

Universal Rollerski Brake: The patent pending universal brake system can be installed on any rollerski brand.

When adjusted properly, the brake does not touch the leg until you adapt the braking position. When initially adjusting the brake use the “macro” adjustment. When you have found the best location install the safety screw. Any additional changes can be made with the upper “micro” adjustment. When braking, the brake foot is pushed forward of the other foot by about .45 meters ( 18” ) and then you simply push the knee back. This Telemark braking position is also the most stable position for braking as the forward leg acts like a brace and keeps you from falling forward as you decelerate.*

“ It only took me two or three practice stops to
become proficient. And do they have stopping
power! Not quite like a bike, but not far from it.”
Lee Borowski, Coach

“This finally puts every roller skier in control of his or her destiny. Before this, you couldn’t actually stop yourself on downhills, at stop signs and in dangerous situations. The brake is mounted on one ski, is very light weight, not too costly and is easy to attach. I can attest to that. There is a learning curve, of course, so be sure to proceed cautiously in your beginning kilometers of use. Just as 100% of roller skiers should be wearing helmets, the same number should be using the brake.” Marty Hall, former US Olympic Coach and both Coach & Nordic Director for Team Canada.

Jenex Universal Brake FAQ

Q: Where does the brake mount on the rollerski?
A: The brake mounts behind the binding, 29mm (1.125 inches) of space is required from the end of the binding to the end of the shaft, or to the molded fender housing on 800 and 900 series

Q: How does the brake work?
A: The brake is actuated by pushing the brake ski about 450mm (18 inches) ahead of the other ski (think Telemark position) and pushing the knee back.

Q: Is it adjustable?
A: The brake has numerous adjustments to accommodate just about any shoe size and different binding locations. The padded Yoke that engages the leg when braking touches the leg about 1 inch above a typical skate boot.

When in use, the brake arm is raised and locked by a spring loaded plunger, so the brake can only move backward. When properly adjusted, the brake only touches the leg when braking.

Q: Can I fold the brake down?
A: When not skiing, the spring plunger can be pulled out and the brake folded over the binding.

Q: How heavy is it?
A: Weight of complete unit is 125 grams. All materials except the heat treated brake pad are black anodized aluminum and stainless steel. Brakes are available for 800/900 Series and all Aero skis, including the Retro Classic.
