The Ercolina DOPPIA FORZA is used by Rezac, De Bertolis, now also Magnificat, and some other top athletes.
It is equipped with the same belt transmission like a normal Ercolina, and the same braking system with magnets, but the flywheel connected to the shaft have 3 times the inertial moment of the normal Ercolina machine. This is because heavier and bigger athletes need a different machine response.
On the snow if an athlete weight 65kg, there is a certain amount of force applied to the poles to proceed forward due to the formula Force = Mass x Acceleration, In the case the athlete weight 88kg the Force applied to the poles is greater due to the fact the mass of the athlete is bigger. So it is logic that if you want to have the same feeling for two different athletes (65kgs and 88kgs) you must have different machines.
Practically the effect of the Ercolina DOPPIA FORZA (this for athletes of any weight) is comparable to the slow rollers skiis effect. You know than when you use very slow rollerskis, for an hour or so, then just after you change and go on fast rollerskis, the effect is that you literally fly with fast Rollerskis. That is the same with the DOPPIA FORZA and the normal Ercolina.
Use the DOPPIA FORZA first for few minutes, and then when you use the normal Ercolina just after that it seem like the normal Ercolina… is for children. The difference is due to the bigger inertial response of the flywheel.
There can be other considerations, about positive effects of the DOPPIA FORZA, for example, due to the bigger inertia the machine it is harder to accelerate: so it is good to use it also if you want to train your capacity to accelerate. You know that to win races final acceleration is very important, but also acceleration during the race is important to fill a gap and stay “on the wheel”, or to make a gap between you and the group so that they do not stay “on your wheel”.
The price of this new Ercolina DOPPIA FORZA is 125 euro more than the normal Ercolina because the main shafts are longer, there is another flywheel at the other end of each shaft, each one big flywheel have its own protection, and also the frames of the 2 sides is different.
"Ercolina Upper Body Power" was born to fill a gap in the market because there was no machine able to provide this specific form of arm training. This machine simulates the motion and the intensity of a cross-country skiing pole stroke. Cross-country skiing technique is characterized by repetition and the ability to rhythmically produce propulsive force over long periods of time. Training with the "Ercolina Upper Body Power" is a convenient way to develop the strength and endurance needed for successful cross-country skiing.
The machine allows the intensity of the workout to be adjusted thereby catering for the needs of all athletes. An example training session can include a ten minute warm up at reduced intensity, followed by 4 one minute sets performed at the highest speed on a medium intensity setting. Each set should be followed by a three minute rest interval during which loosening up exercises should be performed.
"Ercolina Upper Body Power" is ergonomically constructed. The stroke is the same as in crosscountry skiing and allows both simultaneous and alternate arm stroke. The machine can be adjusted according to individual needs so that the training regimen can be easily personalized. The stroke phase is fluid and doesn't overstress the muscles; the return phase after the stroke requires no effort.
The ideas behind "Ercolina Upper Body Power" are not new. In fact, a similar machine has been produced for a long time in the former Soviet Union where it is used by all professional teams and amateur athletes, sporting groups and societies.
