The 2010 Alpina BC 1550 are backcountry ski boots that achieve the perfect balance of power, comfort and control for backcountry touring. Whereas a full plastic boot can be too heavy and stiff for touring long distances, and a full leather boot can fall short of offering enough support for telemark turns in extreme conditions, the hybrid design of the Alpina BC 1550 is the perfect blend of the two.
The Alpina 1550 boots feature a plastic articulating cuff with adjustable powerstrap joined with a plastic heel counter that extends forward to the arch designed to deliver superior support and control when making fresh powder turns. But because the Alpina BC 1550 is not a full plastic boot, the overall weight is kept down resulting in a more comfortable and efficient experience when climbing to the top of that peak and a more natural feel with better efficiency for kicking and gliding through that valley. Any backcountry skier will appreciate this long lasting and durably constructed boot with super sturdy and beefy design that provides a great fit and comfort no matter what conditions (from deep powder & fluff to crud and ice) or weather encountered.
As far as warmth is concerned, the BC 1550 is an oven. Insulated with Thinsulate synthetic insulation, and protected with a zip-up lace cover with gaiter hook to keep the warmth in and the snow and cold out, your feet will stay warm and dry all day long. The Anatomic footbed will provide the necessary arch support for long days while the inner boot with speed lacing will hold your foot firmly in place.
