F40 has a very high content of the same nearly pure fluoro-powder that composes pure fluoro additives.
When the humidity is not very high (let's say up to 70%), a single application of F40 CARBON ensures a superb glide, without need of a second layer with Fluoro additive. In other words, this saves time in waxing and money or a pure fluoro additive.
Also - When the humidity is over 70%, a lower amount of pure fluoro additive is needed over a layer of paraffin ( such as F15, or F31, or F40 ). Obviously, in conditions of very high humidity, a layer of F40 CARBON + a layer of pure fluoro additive delivers unchallenged skis.
F40 CARBON should be used under 2 circumstances:
1. When the race is VERY LONG and you wish to keep glide advantage as long as possible, beyond the wearing off of the layer of HP05 made over a base of a fluorinated paraffin (F15, F31, F40). In other words, as the layer of pure flouro additive is subject to the direct contact with snow, it is going to wear off when snow is very abrasive. After this has happened, with a base of F40 CARBON you will still have superb glide (as your basic layer of paraffin has a very high content of pure fluoro additive).
2. When you wish to have the utmost performance, regardless the length of the race.
